About the Photographers and Cinematographers

Scott Serfas
The cover of Rise—that amazing Travis Rice shot—was taken by Transworld SNOWboarding senior photographer Scott Serfas. It was shot during the filming of The Art of Flight, on what many consider to be one of the most progressive Alaska expeditions ever. And let’s just say that what the athletes do on film is astounding, but try navigating those same slopes with 50 lbs. of camera gear strapped to your back.

Shannon Donnelly
Award-winning photographer Shannon Donnelly’s passion for adventure has driven her to more than 30 countries on 5 continents, though her shot of the back-flipper at sunset was snapped at Venice Beach. Her work has been shown at the J. Paul Getty Museum, LACMA, and the Smithsonian Institute and appeared in Dwell, InStyle, and Elle Decor.

Christopher Wray-Mccann
Christopher Wray-McCann is a Los Angeles-based ninja. His work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Esquire, Vanity Fair, Conde Nast Traveler and, of course, Popular Mechanics. He lives on a rooftop with his girlfriend and two step-cats.

Jimmy Chin
Jimmy Chin is a 12 year veteran of the North Face Athlete Team, a National Geographic photographer and filmmaker. He’s participated and documented breakthrough expeditions around the world with some of the top climbers, skiers, snowboarders and adventurers of our time. Besides climbing up some of the hardest high altitude alpine routes in the Himalayas, he is also one of the only people in the world to ski down Mount Everest from the summit. He knows a thing or two about the flow state both as an athlete and a creative.
